  • It does appear random. Yesterday it loaded the Library without opening any Projects.

I was having this problem under FCP 6.04 and XDCAM Transfer 2.71 and 2.80.

Thanks for pointing out the solution.

Wow, it won’t export a one minute long project?

Does Export using QT Compressor work?

Regarding “not retaining edits” I mean FCP seems to have “undone” recent edits. We save the project and opening it next day – edits gone. Happened in a few cases on separate machines and separate project files.

The media files are cloned between both external drives. However, the drive name is the same. The project file name is different for the “working” and “master” projects and we take care to ensure we’re accessing the proper sequence name in each open project.

We’re having enough strange things happen (most recently, filters that suddenly don’t work) that our project needs a fresh start. XML import seems a good way, assuming there aren’t any bugs like discarding Speed Changes in clips (I read this is a FAQ).

Does anyone have a Standard Operating Procedure for naming drives, files, and projects for decentralized editing like this?

Can you elaborate a bit more?

Did you export via QuickTime Compressor or QuickTime Movie?

Do you have enough disk space?

    Proper file permissions?

  • Thanks for the suggestion.

Doesn’t look like there are columns for Sequence TC and duration of edit points. Nor can I manually re-order the clips in List view. However, it’s a starting point.

Thanks to everyone for clarifying (and elaborating on) my EDL question.

I’m actually trying to extract logging information from my timeline which led me to looking at the EDL export. Appears as if another forum topic is more appropriate than replying here.

  • I figured as much although now I can’t seem to create the same output using Compressor as with QT Conversion. A new post is coming…

    Thanks.
