  • How to disable automatic loading of recently used projects

Posted by Eric Brodeur on July 3, 2015 at 6:06 pm

Using FCPX 10.2.1. When I open a Library, Final Cut starts opening recently used projects into my timeline.

Is there a way to turn this off?

I’ve looked around for an answer but only found solutions to the old system of Event management.

Close the finished project, then it won’t show up.

You can also hold option key while launching, this allows you to select a specific project or create a new empty library.
Also comes in handy if a corrupted library is crashing FCPX.

I don’t think you can close s project. You can close a library, but once you open it it will load a project into the timeline. Seemingly randomly even.

It does appear random. Yesterday it loaded the Library without opening any Projects.

I’ve noticed this as well that randomly FCP X will load a project that I am not working on or referencing. I’ve tried to find something consistent about this behavior, but I can’t and it’s annoying and time consuming.

You can hold option to force opening a particular library, but that still doesn’t prevent the random loading of projects sometime.
