  • Exporting a sequence’s clips and time code for use in Excel

I’ve been asked to create a visual effects shot list for an indie feature I’m working on. I found an Excel template which I modified for our needs. The challenge is getting FCP to export enough information to fill in the worksheet for me.

    Here’s what I’m looking for…

    Clip name
    Shot duration
    Sequence TC start
    Sequence TC end
    Source TC start
    Source TC end

Is there a plug-in or other feature in FCP (version 6) that can do this? The closest I’ve come is exporting an EDL but it’s a tedious process to clean up for Excel.

Batch List export from the Browser isn’t an option because I need to retain the order of clips as they are in the sequence.

Could be that my approach is wrong. Your thoughts and advice appreciated. Thanks.

You want to export a batch list.

Set up a bin with the columns you want in the order you want them, then simply drag each shot into that bin. Then you can select that bin’s window & export the batch list. The batch should open up directly in Excel.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Doesn’t look like there are columns for Sequence TC and duration of edit points. Nor can I manually re-order the clips in List view. However, it’s a starting point.

im looking for this feature too.
short of dropping a feature length timeline worth of shots in a bin and trying to make sense of the order in an excel document i cant find another way
it would be good if you could export a batch list off the timeline
