What if you just drag the video to the project pane left of the menu in DVD Architect and then change the link to point to that one?

Basically, any you have a codec for that works is “safe”. Some people have gotten the types you’ve mentioned to work. Others have had terrible problems with them.

You’ve managed to move that particular window “off the screen”. My normal recommendation is to change the screen to a different resolution, find the window, move it back to the main area, and then reset your screen resolution back.

I see no real issues with going up to 2 hours on a DVD. Give it a shot and test it with YOUR eyes. I’m betting you’ll be happy with the results. For 2 hours, I use an average bit-rate of 4,825,000.

Do a search here for “MJPEG” and you’ll find links to several MJPEG codecs that work in Vegas. Here’s a post talking about this exact situation.
Also Vegas Pro 8 now includes the MJPEG codec built-in. Not sure about VMS 8.

You need to change the bitrate when rendering the MPEG2 file to be appropriate for the length of your video. In your case, all tests so far have been small enough at the default bitrate. 1.5 hours requires reducing the bitrate slightly from default. I have a couple newsletter articles about this process. Look particularly at Vol 1 #7.

When using the velocity envelope, you’d also need to move the keyframes closer. Instead, try holding down the CTRL key and resizing the event smaller.

AVI is a windows file extension – not a video “type”. Instead, you need to find out what KIND of file it is. AVI can be uncompressed, DV, or more esoteric formats such as DivX or Xvid. Vegas does not include a codec for EVERY type of file that can be in an AVI wrapper. Use a program like GSpot to tell you what kind of file it really is.
