I am finally experimenting with using layered PSD files as menus in DVDA. Making sure I got all the naming conventions correct, and creating only a simple button thumbnail and highlight mask, I am encountering an issue…

On the “main” menu, I have two buttons, and in order to “link” those buttons to media titles, I have to have the title in my project already. So, I drag the MPG file from explorer into the project overview, and now I can link the button to the media.

Nice. But now, I have two references to this media file (title) on the main menu, because dragging it in created a new button, for which I must choose text/image or both. But I don’t want this other reference to this media, that’s what I created the button for!

Is there some way to “hide” this other button? When I try to delete it after linking the “real” button to it, then the “real” button shows a broken link, so am I stuck? I suppose I could use “text only” an d make the text a very small period which is not accessible via the remote controls, but that seems like an inelegant solution that shouldn’t be necessary.

Thanks in advance for helping solve this conundrum.

What if you just drag the video to the project pane left of the menu in DVD Architect and then change the link to point to that one?

Well, there you go. I didn’t know you could do that, and that solves the problem. Thanks, Edward!
