If there’s a gap on the timeline between the events, it won’t delete the one on the right.

If you have a 10 minute clip, the first clip is first 5 minutes, the second clip is the last 4 minutes, and they are a cut (i.e. butted together), it will turn them into a single clip containing the first 9 minutes. It simply looks to make sure both events are from the SAME MEDIA.

The basis of the tool is assuming you’ve pressed “S” a few times and the event was split but segments were NOT cut out. You wouldn’t want to “heal” a split where a segment was cut out!

It simply automates the process mentioned previously in this thread. If you have a single event that is split into two or more events, It deletes the event(s) to the right and expands the left-most event to fill the now empty space.

There’s NOTHING to FIX. Vegas will split exactly what you tell it to split. It will ONLY split SELECTED events. If it just so happens that you have NO events selected, it will then split everything under the cursor. So if you only want it to split one event, select that one event first.

BTW, Excalibur has an “unsplit” tool built into it.

Sounds like you have a sliver of something at the 4 minute mark. If you click on the >| button below the timeline, it will take you to the end of the project. Then you can zoom in and see what’s there.

Change the DPI setting and see how the various settings affect that dialog box.

Right-click a blank area of your desktop, go into the video properties, and look for the DPI setting. Looks like yours might be set to “Large Fonts” instead of “Normal Size”.

On mine I see the font name. To the right of that is the font size. To the right of that is the color.

A volume envelope on the second track won’t affect the first track in any way.

.sfl is the markers file. When you pull up the “render as” screen, uncheck the “Include Markers” option.
