What version of Vegas and what version of Excalibur are you using? For example, there were lots of changes between 4 and 5 and a lot more changes between 5 and 6. Any version of Excalibur for Vegas 5 will run in Vegas 6. However, once again, Excalibur 4 adds many new features over the prevous versions.

Agreed – video only. If you added a separate audio stream, now you have multiple audio channels (similar to english vs spanish vs commentary audio tracks).

When you take a snapshot, you’ll get whatever resolution your video is. If you are using NTSC, you will get one of two sizes: 720×480 if you copy to clipboard or 655×480 if you save a snapshot. The difference between the two is that the 655×480 version takes into account the difference between square and rectangular pixels.

If you want to keep the audio and video in a single AVI file, you’ll need to use the standard “render as” command. as donatello said, using that feature will give you the video in an AVI file and the audio in a separate WAV file.

Why do you think it’s not good for photo montages with larger numbers of photos? I think it works great for that purpose.

The easiest way would probably be to right-click the replacement image, drag it to the one you want replaced, and choose “Add as Take”.

If you’re going to run it the entire length of the video, you’d probably be better off (especially effort-wise) just letting it run the entire length. I recommend only using multi-angles in small sections. For example, the multi-angle DVD I made only consisted of a small 2 minute section.

One big key when using multi-angles is to render everything as DV-AVI. To make sure everything aligned correctly, I placed a chapter point where the multi-angle was starting. That made it easy to align the pieces in DVDA because I simply needed to start the other angles at that chapter point.

Regions and markers that occur at the end of rendered file are now adjusted so they occur on the last audio sample of the rendered file. If you’re rendering the loop region only, any region that extends beyond the loop region is adjust so the region end occurs on the last audio sample. This adjustment prevents warning messages when the rendered files are opened in Sound Forge software.

First of all, I would leave the preview on Good (Auto). Secondly, when things look “jerky”, what is your framerate? I’m betting the playback rate is less that 29.97.

Finally, you might want to update to Excalibur 4.2, add the pictures to the timeline, and simply run the PBS Wizard and see the results. Tweak the handful that need it and you should be done.
