  • Can I swop out images in Vegas-5?

    Hi all,

    Vegas 5 query plz.

I’m hoping for a quick response to this one (today sometime if pos), as I’m doing a ‘happy birthday’ movie for my nephew, which I’d to finish today and send off to him.

Problem: The movie is 99% complete and is synced to the music track (so Id like to avoid moving things in the timeline). Yet I have 6 identical images on the timeline, 4 of which I want to swop out for different images. Hows it done?

As yet Ive yet to find a simple way to swop images in Vegas-5, while at the same time keeping the timing and FX as they are. Sure I can open the image in Media Pool and swop it there ..but the trouble is ‘all’ the images change, abd thats not much use.

So any help on this quesry would be much appreciated 🙂

Final question. Is there a way to save the window setup in Vegas5? i.e. every time I use Vegas I expand the timeline to resemble the likes of MSoft Movie Maker (big and chunky), but Vegas reverts back to those tiny size prints next time I sart it up.

    Thanks

    Tin

The easiest way would probably be to right-click the replacement image, drag it to the one you want replaced, and choose “Add as Take”.

Hi. I tried that but there seems to be no option to “Add as Take”. I tried the right-drag suggestion, but it knocked all my slides and timing out and I had to ‘undo’ it.

    Are you using Vegas-5?

Thanks for any further help on this one (tho I suspect that perhaps this option was overlooked by the Sony developers)

The “Add as Take” option works for me in Vegas 5.
Make sure you right-click it in the Media pool and then do your drag & drop over top of the image to be replaced. Once you release the mouse button, you should see a list of options.
If that doesn’t work, right-click the image to be replace in the media pool and select “replace” from the menu. Then navigate to the folder where the new image is and double-click it. Instant replacement 🙂

Ah! Thanks Mike. The ‘add as take’ option via Media Pool works a treat, and has saved me a lot of time (and will do in future).

The second option wouldnt work (“right-click the image to be replace in the media pool and select “replace” from the menu”. as it alters all 6 slides.

But Im happy with your first option 🙂

(BTW: Ive just realised, the music track Ive added to this video Ive made for my Nephew, is sung by ..’Altered Images’ (called Happy Birthday). Would you believe it? 🙂

    Thanks again

Add as Take works equally well when dragging from the media pool or dragging from the Vegas Explorer window. Just pick the single replacment image and right-click and drag to the image to be replaced. You’ll get a menu with several options including the ability to add as a take.

…or dragging from the Vegas Explorer window.

Thanks Edward. I just learned something new 🙂
I always use the Media Pool so I’ve never had to do it that way. Nice to know I can.
