Is there a way to extract images and pick a high resolution size? Like 1024×768 or something and maintain the good quality.

When you take a snapshot, you’ll get whatever resolution your video is. If you are using NTSC, you will get one of two sizes: 720×480 if you copy to clipboard or 655×480 if you save a snapshot. The difference between the two is that the 655×480 version takes into account the difference between square and rectangular pixels.

To add to Edward’s (excellent as usual) advice, make sure your Preview Window quality is set to Best(Full).

There’s actually several settings which can be applied that make the image better. For a full list, I recommend reading my newsletter issue where I talk about all of those settings. In fact, I recommend using a script which can apply all of the settings, save the snapshot, and then reset the settings back to where you had them before. The link to my newsletters is below my name. Look specifically at vol 1 #5.
