Vegas 6.0c comes with a File – Import – Camcorder DVD option. Vegas Movie Studio 6 also has this option. However, MPEG2 is NOT a good editing format.

Use a standard text generated media. Type in the text however long it needs to be. Now go to the “Positioning” tab. Change the “Y” value to get it at the proper height on the screen. Now change the “X” value so that the first letter is just off the right edge of the screen.

Move the cursor on the timeline to the end of the timeline and change the “X” value so that the last character is just off the left side of the screen. When you play it back, it will scroll from the right to the left. Naturally the longer the generated media, the slower it will scroll. The “length” of the generated media is a timecode at the top of the generated media box.

Yes. There are various ways to do this. You might look at the color corrector, secondary color corrector, color curves, etc…

Yes. The simplest way is to just do a File – New and pick Single Movie. It will then immediately start playing that movie. Otherwise, you can just make the desired movie the First Play.

Certainly, just set the end-action of the movie to itself.

Russell, why use Aav6cc when the secondary color corrector also easily does this task? Any advantages from your point of view? The secondary color corrector is very simple for this task and is native to Vegas.

I’ll have to do some digging. I have one of their products somewhere – will have to see which one it was.

Should just be a matter of dropping it on the timeline, though, and choosing the appropriate transparency method.

I render to, capture to, print to tape from external drives all the time.

After installing Vegas, Make sure you go to File – Properties and Options – Preferences and change the file locations that default to drive C. You’ll also need to change the capture program as well to point to a new drive.

What you are describing is correct. When you split a clip and then extend it again, it will simply reveal the rest of that clip. If you truly want it to freeze at that point, add a couple of velocity envelope points and change the second one to 0%. There’s a LOT of velocity information in Vol 1 #9 of my newsletters.

You could try a couple of things:

1) Open Pan/Crop and move it up or down ONE scanline

2) Right-click the event and change it from lower to upper

In both cases, do a small check to see if it helped. I would not try to do BOTH of the above at the same time.
