    Hi to all,

I’m quite new to Vegas, but I think I’m getting up to speed quickly due to the fairly easy way Vegas is working and my long practical experience with Pinnacle Studio products. I’m only left with a few questions that I cannot find out myself quickly enough.

I want to build a kind of credit roll at the bottom of the screen. I want there one or two lines of characters scrolling by from right to left. The length of the roll is way over 100 characters and includes empty parts (to determine splits between various parts of the credit roll like Productio by…., camera….., acters…..). It should look like the bottom text scrolling by at CNN and NBC news.

currently I do this using multiple text medias that are pushed in and out of the screen. This is a very dull and time consumeing way of doing this, but gives you all possible fonts, speeds, etc. I could not find a usefull example in the provided credit rolls and until now I could not find a post on this or other forums about it.

Also I’m confussed aeverytime I want to make use of motion of pictures with the use of the pan/crop tool and/or track motion button. Can some of you clarify the difference. It looks like I’m always using the track motion way to do it, because the pan/crop never reacts the way that I expect it to do.

    Thanks,

    Marcel de Groot

(if some words or lines in this text are not 100% correct, it is due to the fact that I’m not native English/American speaking. Sorry for that.)

Use a standard text generated media. Type in the text however long it needs to be. Now go to the “Positioning” tab. Change the “Y” value to get it at the proper height on the screen. Now change the “X” value so that the first letter is just off the right edge of the screen.

Move the cursor on the timeline to the end of the timeline and change the “X” value so that the last character is just off the left side of the screen. When you play it back, it will scroll from the right to the left. Naturally the longer the generated media, the slower it will scroll. The “length” of the generated media is a timecode at the top of the generated media box.

Sometimes things are that simple, that you don’t expect them to be that simple. This is a great example on that.

Thanks for the constructive and fast reply.
