Some of this is also covered in Vol 1 #8 of my newsletters.

There’s another battery in the camera that maintains those settings while the main battery is off. Apparently THAT battery is dead. It’s usually a watch type battery.

Could there be some other device that has taken control of your audio card? Or firewire port? or something else? In this particular case I think I’d first look toward audio. Open the Vegas preferences and see what audio device is chosen and see if there’s any other options.

Open Pan/Crop on that event. Now, right-click the image in the Pan/Crop window and choose “Match Output Aspect”. Next you need to set the starting location on the first keyframe and the ending position on the last keyframe. I’m not sure if the “Movie Studio” version allows more than two keyframes. If it does, you can set up all kinds of panning. If not, you’ll be limited to a single line. The full version does allow as many keyframes as needed.

In VEGAS, you go to Tools – Burn Disc – Disc-at-once Audio CD.

Take a look at Vol 1 #10 of my newsletters.

With audio, you add the effects to the TRACK unless you use the “non-realtime” method. Therefore, these audio effects get added to the track. However, you can have unlimited tracks so just move these events to a new track.

Video effects are different in that they can be applied to the events and still be realtime. The tool that adds video effects DOES add them to the selected events unless you choose the option to adde to the track instead.

Rich, I was able to duplicate your issue. The GOOD news – it did NOT “crash Vegas” and was not cause to just uninstall Excalibur. The script DID cause an exception to happen but it would not adversely affect Vegas.

The effect itself was actually added to the track. However, it died when trying to assign the preset. In this particular case, it was because it had “:” in the preset name. If you had picked ANY preset without a “:” it would have worked fine. 🙂 (and that’s about 99% of them!).

I sent you an e-mail with a test version. Give that a try and see if it solves the problem for you. The fix will be rolled into the next release as well.

As for the e-mail, I don’t know why it would have bounced back. Worst case, you can always e-mail or PM me through my site.

Can you just re-open the original project? Vegas can directly burn an audio CD from there. Just cut it down to size if necessary, add CD Markers, and tell it to burn an audio CD.

If the options are grayed out you can go to the About tab and I’m sure you’ll see they all read “Expired”. The initial version had an issue where it could expire immediately. I put a corrected version out Tuesday evening. Please download and install the newer version and it should start working again. If not, e-mail me and we’ll figure out what’s going on.

“Make Movie” is really just a simplified version of “File – Render As”. To make a DVD, you just need to render the video out to MPEG2 and the audio out to AC3. Then you pull those two files into DVD Architect to get the final result.

A couple of my newsletters go through this process. Take a look at Vol 4 #1 and Vol 1 #7 for more details.
