Take a look at my newsletters for the article on changing the speed of a clip. The newsletters have the full complete answer. Here’s the SHORT version:
1. Hold down the CTRL key and resize the clip (same as adjusting the “Playback Rate”)
2. Add a Velocity Envelope to the event

Just download the current version from Sony’s website and try reinstalling. If that doesn’t work, you might try uninstalling all Sony software, deleting the Sony folders, and (only if you know what you’re doing) remove the related entries from the registry. Once that’s clean, then do a reinstall. Plus you can always contact tech support.

It’s not a publicly available custom command and is very specialized for my church service editing. E-mail me and I’ll discuss with you what it might take to convert it to something you can use.

With the pro version, you can change the parameters by going to “Custom”. With the studio version, you can’t.

If you’re using Vegas Pro 8, you might also want to check out my Auto Save custom command. It will save your project every x minutes and append the date/time to the file name giving you a running series of backups.

I have a special Custom Command I wrote specifically for editing our church services in Vegas Pro 8. One of the features it has is telling me exactly how long the current service is and how much over/under the desired time it is. Outside 5 seconds over/under, this turns red – within my acceptable range, it turns green.
Sounds like you’re wanting something similar to that. I can tell at a glance how long the project is and how much over/under I am without ever having to scroll anywhere on the timeline!

Sony never reveals what’s going to be in future versions before it’s time for release. So I don’t think you’ll get any reliable answers on this one.
Basically, those who know, can’t tell. Those who tell, don’t know.

More details would be useful. However, here’s something that will occur if you stretch a clip longer than the clip actually is: Once the clip is longer on than timeline than it really is, it will repeat (as many times as necessary to fill the length on the timeline). Unless your ending clip is the same as the beginning clip and it’s looped, I really doubt this is the cause, though.
Whatever you see on the timeline is what you’ll get. So if you’re seeing the first frame at the end on the final output, it has to be there on the timeline as well. Zoom in on the timeline and see what’s really there.
