I’m with Shane, software coversion is a mushy road to go down. We’ve tested everything from compressor to Nitris in our facility. A few years ago we went with the mini Teranex and it has been awesome. We still use it depending on the project, but more often than not we use our Kona 3 boxes.

    Hey Paris,

thanks for the info….I was basically doing that, when our IT guy found out that whoever had digitized the media that we were having problems with, had different permissions settings and so the files could not be accessed by AVID in anyone elses settings. Basically a windows thing…very strange. You can bet I’m looking into how the permissions got changed.

    Anyways thanks for the info

Grinner, totally has it right! The only way to find out what works is to shoot it, then cut it. Not only does it make you a better camera dude, you now know what works better in an edit. And eventually you’ll get good enough to start asking the camera guys for shots to make your pieces better.

    Hey Jim,

I know this is late…sorry didn’t check the cow very much over the summer. I can almost guarantee you that the shots were not broadcast safe…we had the same problem and until we scoped them properly we couldn’t get rid of the hits. If you came up with a different solution let me know…I’m always looking to take on stingy technology.

    Hey Steve,

thanks for the contact…I got a hold of Seth at Sony in Canada,

Heres the deal for those that care:

to get into the Maintainence menu on the HDW 1800 press alt/delete and F9 on front panel.
then scroll to M3 – others menu push “set”
then scroll to M3B push “set”
then you will see a screen that has “ANC1” on the left nad LN1, LN2, DID, & SDID along the top.
The multi wheel will scroll you left to right & holding down shift on the front panel will allow you to change the number settings below each column.

All changes are made to the “ANC1” row.

under LN1 the number should be 009
under LN2 the number should be 572
under DID the number should be 061
under SDID the number should be 01

Then hit set, and you should be good to go….wheeewf

More learning…either tougher brain cells or less of them

    thanks

December 21, 2006 at 7:00 pm in reply to: AJA XENA LH Batch Capture

Hey Guys thanks for the response…when I said new user I really meant new user. Being used to edit systems and other encoding systems I just assumed there was a logging tool inside of the Machina. That ugly word “ASSUME” busted me. Not a problem, just means I get to go shopping for a Premiere Pro Licence,(as long as I can get it approved.) By the way it litterally saved our butts on an agency job that the client moved the deadline up by 2 days…at the same time our encoder bought it. We wouldn’t have made it without the XENA.

    Thanks again
