FCP Batch Capture
Hey Guys,
quick question. We have just jumped into the world of FCP making the transition from AVID. We have a sequence that was archived. Now we need to do a credit change that has shots associated with the credits. We only want to redigitize the 9 clips on the credits, but when we select the clips and try to batch capture, FCP wants to capture the entire source clips that our timeline clips came from. Which steps am I forgetting. AVID does decompose, & I thought making the timeline clips independants would work but…no dice.

It sounds like those clips are subclips that you’re trying to digitize. Meaning, they reference one larger clip. You’ll need to trim the clips before you digitize them using Media Manager. Here’s what I would do:
– Select the clips that you need.
– Select File – Media Manager
– Select Create Offline from the pulldown menu
– Select the Codec that you want the new sequence to be in
– Select Delete unsude media
– Add one second handles
– Select OKThis will create a new project with the clips you’ve selected. It will also change the clips from subclips to master clips. Now you can copy the sequence back into your other project and batch capture.

I gave this a try and it works
The only suggestion is when you go FILE>Media manager make sure to UNCHECK “include master clips outside selection”
