    CS5.0.3

I’ve double checked that the keys are indeed mapped to Up and Down, but I’ve also tried mapping them to other keys, such as Page Up and Page Down and same thing. Something about the functionality isn’t working.

I experience the same sort of slow timeline response with Premiere CS5 on a MacPro Dual Quad Core 2.8 with an NVidia Quadro FX 4800. I’ve actually posted about this same problem in this thread — https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/3/912444

Actually, I just figured out a method if anyone is interested. Apply a “Motion Tile” effect to the footage, BEFORE the Simple Choker effect, and set the Motion Tile to “Mirror Edges”.

    Any ideas?

  • Hey Chris,

Thanks for those links. I was reading that Cineon article yesterday. It was really helpful. The issue though is, the footage in After Effects is native .R3D so I’m viewing my clips normally, and I have all the color depth there at my fingertips. I just want to render out of After Effects into a format that maintains all that color information so I can grade in Apple Color. I know that within After Effects I can grade down my highlights and everything else to maintain all that data, but I just want to be working with something in Apple Color that has all that information. Color DOES support the import of 10 bit log DPX. Really all I need to know is how to Render out of After Effects at 10 bit log. For some reason, I’m having a hard time finding any kind of documentation on this.

  • Because, my VFX shots are coming from Final Cut, into After Effects, and then rejoining the rest of the edit in Apple Color for the Final Grade. In After Effects, the shots are composited, but then must be rendered out as something. I’m just looking to render back out to the highest color/bit depth file that Apple Color will read so that I can maintain all my data in my highlights and whatnot.

Also, along those same lines, is it possible to control the factor by which you orbit in the scene? I’m finding that it’s taking several strokes to orbit around a simple object.

I just select the Linked Comp in the After Effects project window and right click and select “Set Proxy” and then I just make sure that the output settings are Full Res, so in effect it’s simply prerendering my link Comp, but in a way that I can toggle on and off easily.
