Keep losing renders with Linked Comps
Posted by Dustin Bowser on June 24, 2010 at 11:16 pmHey, I’ve got a Sequence with Several Linked Comps to After Effects compositions, but they are constantly becoming unrendered in my sequence, even though I’m not changing anything with it either in Premiere or After Effects. Anyone else have this happen?

Can’t say that I have experienced that. What I would suggest, though, is that you leave your dynamic linked comp in the sequence (disabled), but render a file from AE anyway and cut it into the sequence.
In this way, you can still get back to the comp and makes changes as necessary, but you don’t have the overhead of having to deal with potentially heavy render times in PPro over and over again.

June 25, 2010 at 6:09 pmTo get around heavy render times in Premiere what I’ve been doing is just Rendering out a Full Res Proxy in After Effects of my linked comp. That way the comp that is referenced is just a full rez quicktime, but I can click it off and edit it in After Effects if necessary. The render times when a render gets bumped offline aren’t big, I just wanted to know why it’s doing this because it isn’t consistant.

So you nest the proxy as a the top layer in your comp in AE?
That’s interesting….I hadn’t thought of that.
Certainly much cleaner in your PPro sequence.
But you will still have your issue in PPro…where as in my case…you liklely wouldn’t…
I’ve not seen renders just unlink in PPro…
Only if the clip or sequence is modified in some meaningful way in PPro…sorry I can’t help with that…

June 25, 2010 at 6:46 pmI just select the Linked Comp in the After Effects project window and right click and select “Set Proxy” and then I just make sure that the output settings are Full Res, so in effect it’s simply prerendering my link Comp, but in a way that I can toggle on and off easily.
