  • That’s not a bad solution. Thanks for that Walter.

Out of curiosity, I’d still be interested to track down that expression, just to keep it handy in the toolbox.

  • Right after I posted I stumbled across that clicking around.

    Thanks!

Basically I want something to go from being tracked, all the way to not being tracked.

What I’m doing is placing a composite element within a shot that morphs to something from within the plate itself, so at first it needs to be tracked in, but then when the morph happens it needs just be exactly as the underlying plate is with no added animation, but I have to hand between these two moments seamlessly

The tracking data is position, scale, and rotation.

  • I agree, 2015 has been a major workflow stopper and I don’t appreciate at all how much time I’ve had to lose trying to get things to work that were working just fine before.

It is my livelihood and it has caused some major issues. I’m very annoyed at Adobe about how this has gone down.

Also have discovered that I can’t export. It crashes near the end every time. Going to see if I can bring my timelines back in through CC2014. So far 2015 has been a complete mess. Frustrating that the default updating function was to delete the previous version. Pretty bold when putting out a version that is a major workflow fumble.

  • Unfortunately I spoke to soon.

The behavior has returned. Must be a bug.

  • Yeah I sent in a bug report first. Just posted here in case anyone else is having the issue. Obviously the Update is fresh out the oven.

I went back and forth with chat support and he had me do an uninstall and fresh re-install and that seems to have fixed the issue for now. I’ve only been testing for about 15 minutes. In case anyone else experiences this.

  • It’s proving to slow me down quite a bit though, because rather than being able to pan around a comp viewer, I have to zoom it to get back where I want to be, which causes it to have to re-cache. Which takes a few seconds on this 6K Red comp…

Yeah have already filed a feature request. I do that all the time.

Again, my main question in this point, which is being a bit confused by the defending of the AE tracker which is not really my point, is why is there a Drop down option in After Effects to choose a different Point Tracker and yet one doesn’t exist. Just curious why that piece of UI functionality has existed even up through CC 2014 and yet there is no other option.

Yeah I’m very familiar with how the tracker works, and with tracking in general.

There have been cases where the exact same shot, After Effects wasn’t able to get anything useable to save it’s life, and Flame was able to nail it. There is definitely a qualitative difference in the trackers, and Flame’s is known for being great, and AE’s is known for being pretty weak in the industry.

My main question being — there is an option to choose which tracker to use in the Tracker Options…..how can I use a different one? Does this even exist?
