Files are always referred to by their “original name” vs how you may have marked them up. I’m not sure what you mean by “SV.”
If you’ve got hard drives changing letters and have media that shares names, Vegas will look for the drive with the letter last used for that same media.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Some plugs don’t work in 64bit. Try the 32bit version. Open the file in Forge and save a copy of the audio.

Render to MPEG @ 8.5 Mbps if DVD is your destination
Otherwise, render to MP4 @ 1280 x 720, 10Mbps if the web is your destination and you want little loss.
Rendering to uncompressed works, but IMO, .mxf is better. You’re dealing with no chroma resampling, and Vegas loves .mxf. You’ll save a LOT of space and time, tooDouglas Spotted Eagle

Set the project settings to whatever the bulk of your footage may be.

A-converting to MPEG2 would be foolish.
B-set preview to Preview/Auto
C-be SURE antivirus isn’t running and kill any background apps.Off the shelf laptops are usually crap for editing video. Most folks wipe the drives and reload just the OS and needed apps.
Additionally, if you don’t have a fast drive as a system drive, expect bottlenecks. 5400 RPM drives aren’t fast enough, not for AVCHD.
4GB RAM isn’t much, not if you’re running Win7. I’d say you’re at the barebones minimum.

is your source framerate different than your project framerate? Source PAR different than your final output? Got your “set aspect ratio” ticked in the Preview window?
Which version of 8 are you using? The first two revs had huge issues rendering from the Vixia.

A-WMV files are horrible source. Don’t expect quality out of them.
B-You need to convert a square pixel to non-square pixel.
