Movie Studio/DVDA Issues
Greetings all and thank you in advance for taking the time to help. I apologize if this post is lengthy, but I always seen the common problem of not enough information being provided when a question is asked. My objective is to take downloaded TV shows and burn them to DVD so that I may watch them on more than just my iPod. The original files are in .wmv format and average approx 750megs for a 50min program. The videos are also 720×480.
I have placed these files in Movie Studio to convert to the MainConcept MPEG-2 using the DVD Architect NTSC video stream and AC-3 audio. I have then burned them to disc using DVDA v.4.5.
1. An issue that I have experienced is that when playing the DVDA burned 720×480 video on a widescreen TV, the image is highly expanded where the top and bottom of the screen is cropped and the video quality is greatly reduced. I have played may purchased DVDs that were not widescreen format and this does not occur. Is it possible to accomplish the same thing using Movie Studio/Architect and if so what settings are recommended?
2. I have tried many times to take screenshots using the Movie Studio “Save Snapshot to File…” function from the preview pane. However, even when I place the Preview quality to “Best(full)”, the image is a very poor quality in comparison to the surrounding video. Is there a trick to this so that the screenshot is of the same quality?
3. Why is it that the video file size almost doubles when it is placed in DVDA even when it’s MPEG-2/AC-3?
These issues are becoming increasingly frustrating so I greatly appreciate any assistance or instruction that may be provided.

A-WMV files are horrible source. Don’t expect quality out of them.
B-You need to convert a square pixel to non-square pixel.
