rendering options after editing 7D HD footage
hey,
hope this is in the right place, apologies if not.Basically i am in the middle of making an indy snowboard movie shot completely on a canon 7D and to be put on a dvd at the end. i need the final video to be as high a quality as possible to show the HD qualities of the 7D. film is going to be approx 30 mins long
When dropping the footage (.mov) straight into vegas (pro 8) i found it staggered quite a bit in the preview so have been rendering as an uncompressed .avi and editing from that. the file size is huge but it overcomes the problems. firstly does anyone know if this is an approved way of doing this without losing too much quality? or is there a more effective way?
secondly, i would love some advice on the best rendering settings to use. some of the footage is shot at 720p PAL 50fps and some shot at 720p PAL 25fps. at first i was rendering as ‘HDV 720-25p intermediate’ and VLC player would only play sound. so messed around with other options but most wont play through VLC. If i render as an uncompressed avi then the playback staggers as the file size is so huge and has to buffer.
i have since been rendering as WMV at ‘5mbps hd720-25p video’ but feel like i have lost more quality than i want.
any advice on the above and what rendering settings would be best for me would be massively appreciated.
thanks
paul
