Other tools have common tasks with Vegas.
The new FCX is essentially Vegas. All the “new tools” have been in Vegas for a decade.
Vegas’ weak points are lack of network sharing/simultaneous workflows, and film matchback. Insert editing was an issue if you didn’t know the “hidden” workarounds, but now that’s a non-issue as well.

By comparison, a lot of folks find Vegas ugly. My exwife was ugly, but damn…she could keep a clean house, kept my world in order, was a great friend, and could cook to make a skinny man fat…

you can also set the text block to double resolution and size accordingly. It’ll be sharper.

  • This once was easy with CuiBono, which now has a new owner.
If he changes garbage names to single character, will it import?
You’ll likely need to convert the HDV to DNXHD depending on the version he’s working with. HDV and XDCAM aren’t the same resolution. Later versions will accept both without conform.

Ok, just did this with four, adding a fifth. PITA.
    As mentioned, save project.
    Unmulticam it.
Add new cam. you can preserve takes if you wish, but this will create other, new problems.
Add new track. Add new video
    Re-enable multicam.

Sony assumes you know all your cam tracks in advance. Ultimate S and infinitiCam don’t make these assumptions.

  • If you have Ultimate S, use the Photo tab, turn off transitions and zooms, then import to markers at the beats.
One thing you can do is to set markers for the first few beats of the song and then look at the time between markers. This will tell you how far apart to set the markers.
Frankly, I *always* set the markers, but I play the music at double speed to save time. Then import images or video to markers.
I’m assuming you understand the basics of US4, if you need more info…let us know.

Shoulda used Ultimate S or infinitiCam :p

I don’t use Sony’s multicam (so my “cool trix are limited), but I believe you could render to new, then add another cam from that point, using the new content over the render as a take. Conversely, what happens if you duplicate a track and add new as a take?

  • sounds like your bitrate is higher than your decode can manage.
where are you seeing the choppiness? You’re rendering to DV, if this is for streaming…it’s not gonna work.

do you have other audio apps running in the background that might be accessing the SDI card/
Doing other tasks on the machine when this occurs?
