“Maxed out at 0dB” and want to go louder? There isn’t “louder.” I’d suggest turning up your speakers….
Mono to two fronts; just put the surround node in the center, slightly ahead of the middle. Turn off the Center channel.
Usually though, mono dialog is run through the center channel.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Unless the majority of your source footage is uncompressed (I’d be stunned if it is), then why would you render to an uncompressed codec of any kind? It’s monstrous waste of space, time, and potentially damaging to the integrity of your final product.
All those considerations are before rendering to Flash from the uncompressed source master (it’ll be slower).Douglas Spotted Eagle

April 26, 2009 at 2:33 am in reply to: Digital audio vs analog audio output for broadcastThey would be right, most likely.
Tones should be -20dBfs, which may or may not match their meters, depending on which standard at which they are calibrated.
Be sure there is not more than 12dB of dynamic range overall (assuming this is dialog priority)
If you’ve set your max volume at -20dBfs, I sure hope your source masters are hotter than that! Otherwise, when you boost it to a -6/=3dBfs peak then your S/N will be pretty poor.Douglas Spotted Eagle

When in HD modes, there is no pass-thru on any HD camcorder from any manufacturer. You must use DVI, Component, or SVGA from your video card to use external monitoring from Vegas.

Rendering to 30p SD is just fine, particularly from 30p source, and from HD source.
If the display is 30p capable, it’ll show 30p. If not, it displays as interlaced.
Either way, it’s more flexible and higher end quality than hoping for a good deinterlacer and rendering interlaced mediaDouglas Spotted Eagle
