Price-wise, it’s less than Ultimate S, and does quite a bit more, not to mention that it has several similar features to Ultimate S.
It’s actually a very powerful, fast tool that doesn’t need to have Vegas open to do some of the work it does….

The type of motion/lack of motion determines the deinterlacing method you should use. For static shots, use Blend Fields. For active shots containing a lot of motion, use Interpolate.

Hi Brent,
Keying is a tool/workflow that allows you to shoot a subject in front of a single-colored screen, and then extract that person from the scene, placing them anywhere you’d like.
If for example, you’d like to put your child into the Coliseum of Rome, you’d need to record your child in front of a solid colored background (green is preferred for digital) and you’d need a still or video of the Coliseum.
The Chromakey tool is one of a few tools that allows you to extract your child from the solid color background.
On the COW and on the VASST site, there are several tutorials teaching the most simple, and most complex methods of using the Chromakey tool. The VASST DVDs also cover this tool.
It can be a very fun process, and opens the door to infinite creative opportunities.

Start with quarter-inch neoprene and then a beanbag.

or, https://www.cookiecomposites.com with the Padlock mounting system. I use that one for a lot of sport work as a chase or lead cam.

Jerry, any chance you’ll be at NAB? I have a one hour session on this very subject on Monday a.m. and a 3 hour session on Monday evening on this subject.
Plan on using the A1U. There are some challenges, but they’re fairly easy to overcome. Damping is critical when you’re working with an OIS camera like the Z1, and even then it’s hard. The A1 is a terrific sports POV or master cam.

You can download tones from any number of sites, generate them in Sound Forge, or record one from the Print to Tape option in Vegas.
Since you need 30/black, bars, 30 black, you’ll need to generate your own leader and SMPTE pop on a timeline.
Vegas can print bars and tones from the print to tape option, but it cannot split black/bar/black using the preset.
You can create a black slug/blank inserting generated media at a value of 16/16/16.

Using XDCAM HD or XDCAM EX as my source, rendering to any of these 9 templates (regardless of source PAR) provides a correct SAR. Which of these nine are you using?
…could you outline your workflow, project settings, any pan/crop, and render settings that you might be using, including any customizations?
I’m using Vegas 8c.

If you are using the IMX export, it should be exporting a 1440 x 1080 stream. Is this not what you’re seeing when you re-import that footage into Vegas and looking at the properties?

Do you know the name of the font?
TrueType fonts will show up nicely in Vegas, so it may be as simple as finding the font, installing it, and opening Vegas.

The SD5 and 9 weren’t shipping at that time IIRC. Yes, we have an SD5, as well as the original SD1 with the very odd conversion software that converted the 1440 to 1920.
Regarding the broadcast, BT709 has undergone several changes since being written/implemented, the most recent being May of 2008. If you care about predicting the future or care about historical minutaie that led us to where we are today…read the superceding documents.
Please read the context of the entire thread. We’d gone through quite a discussion at that point, now one post has been taken out of context, and it’s kind of annoying, given the insults tossed about.
