    Preview Monitor thru Z1U to HDTV Issue

    Here’s the setup:

    • I have my Sony HVR-Z1U hooked up via the iLink Cable.
    • I have selected it in “Secondary Display”
    • I have the “Component Out” Cable hooked up to my Panasonic 42″ HDTV

    Here’s the results:

    • I can see video from any tape (HDV or DV) on the TV
    • I can see video from Vegas on the small monitor on the Z1U
    • However, I CANNOT SEE VIDEO FROM VEGAS ON THE TV.

    I am able to see the Vegas video if I connect the S-Video cable, but of course the resolution is 720.

    Any ideas? I have dug through the posts and could not find the solution.

    When in HD modes, there is no pass-thru on any HD camcorder from any manufacturer. You must use DVI, Component, or SVGA from your video card to use external monitoring from Vegas.

    I was surprised because I can actually see the preview on the camera’s LCD. I was scratching my head because normally what you see there, you can see on the screen….
