  • HD 30p to SD-DVD render progressive ?

Posted by Enrique Orozco on April 23, 2009 at 11:57 pm

I’m beggining to produce DVDs (SD) from EX3 1080-30p shoots… testing workflows, and understanding the differences between HD vs. SD timelines, render settings, even HD camera settings, etc. … very good results….. one question remains unanswered from my tests… is it better to render PROGRESSIVE in the final mpeg2 DVD arch file (low field order is default)… will the final DVD be really progressive played on a capable-player and TV/monitor ?? … does it make any sense ??

    regards

Rendering to 30p SD is just fine, particularly from 30p source, and from HD source.
If the display is 30p capable, it’ll show 30p. If not, it displays as interlaced.
Either way, it’s more flexible and higher end quality than hoping for a good deinterlacer and rendering interlaced media
