Unlinking video and sound on the timeline
Hi,
I realise this is a relatively simple question, but not matter how I try to search for an aswer, I can’t find any postings related to it.
How can I ‘unlink’ sound from video once they are on the timeline? I want to edit some of the sound out whilst retaining the video (that video track is already nicely synced to another video track, so I don’t want to go bringing it back in from Project Media).

Select the video/audio track you wish to disconnect; press the “U” key to Ungroup. Select both Audio/Video and press the “G” key to reGroup

If you Ungroup the audio and video as DSE has suggested you can the highlight (select) just the audio, place your curser where you want to and use S to split the audio. Another Split and you can delete that segment leaving everything else where it is – as long as AutoRipple is not engaged.

Thanks very much! I find the whole grouping/ungrouping thing kinda awkward (we shot with two cameras, but are using one track of location sound with lots of cuts) however I’m sure I’ll get used to it.
