April 22, 2009 at 2:06 amWhy, right here of course! 🙂
1. Sync up your audio/video on the timeline.
2. Save a veg file of your project noting that it is pre multicam (I call mine a normal name and call the multicam edit veg file the same name with multicam afterwards).
3. Now save it again as the multicam version.
4. Select the video tracks ONLY that you want included in the multicam edit. Don’t select the audio or else you will not be able to mix them later.
5. Go to Tools/Multicamera/ then click enable multicamera editing
6. Go back to Tools/Multicamera/ then click Create Multicamera Track
7. Then you have a multicam track set up (it is using takes so you can right click and choose a different take if you accidentally chose the wrong one)
8. You can either click on the video in your preview window to select the active take or you can use your number keys that correspond with the video in the preview window.
9. Once you get your multicam edit done and you want to color correct the video, you can apply it to the media in the media pool or to each individual take or the track. (if you apply your color correction before you enable the multicamera track, you will lose it once a multicam track is in place).
10. Then do your audio mix (or do it before).Let us know if you have any further questions.

April 22, 2009 at 3:08 amThanks Guys!
Wow! That was so simple. I’m finished already! Ofcourse it was a very short ceremony but the speed at which I can advance by clicking on the timeline, by pressing the arrow keys and by hitting the 1 or 2 buttons is just too good to be true.
It makes me want to shoot with a third cam more often!

Would you expand on #7? Using the right-click feature to modify a cam change?
And how would you insert crossfades?
Thank you

April 22, 2009 at 3:29 pmSure. If you right click on a take (event) on the timeline there is an option for “take” If you hover over it, it will give you options for choosing a different take. Let me know if this isn’t clear. I am not in front of my workstation at the moment.

April 22, 2009 at 5:04 pmHmmm..still can’t get it.
There are selections for Next Take, Previous Take and others referencing Active. Nothing clear about adjust the Take position.

April 22, 2009 at 7:35 pmMaybe I am misunderstanding what you are asking. You are not wanting to replace a cam 1 take with a cam 2 take (which is what I was referencing). It sounds like you are wanting to adjust the timing of when the edit goes from cam 1 to cam 2. If this is correct, then simply pull the edge of the event over towards the one next to it. It will move the cut over and adjust the timing of the cut.
If that is not what you are asking, please explain.

Thanks for staying with me on this. You’re correct. I want to adjust the timing of the set Take; however, dragging the Take to the left leaves a gap of black. The second cam angle does to auto adjust to it.
BTW, is all of this done in Multicam mode, or does it matter?

April 23, 2009 at 3:07 amThe way I speak of above, you shorten one event and lengthen the other to butt it against the first one you moved.
However, here is a secret- if you are still in multicam mode, hover over where the two events meet and hold down the CTRL and the ALT keys- your cursor should change and then you can click and drag and both events will move whichever way you move your mouse (one will shorten and one will lengthen).
Don’t tell anybody 🙂
