As soon as you hit tape in DVCProHD you’re at 59.94. It can’t record 23.98 without a varicam TC generator setting the flags. You also have no VITC in this format which will choke a DaVinci session, need to dub to hdcam.

I use this combo almost daily FCP w K3 to/from HDW1800D
It’s usually the output of the Kona3 not set to HDSDI which I have to set via the kona control panel
In my case SDI 1 is the output to the machine room patch bay, so I need to make sure it’s set correctly.
It gets changed frequently for down/cross convertsDoug Beal

We use a Sonnet Fusion D800 that comes with an Atto R-380 card. this is an SAS system using 8 drives striped raid5. if 1 drive fails you can keep working if 2 drives fail you’re out of luck. We can easily cut 10 bit uncompressed HDCam in 1080i or Psf. I have not had a problem even when running with less than 500 gig available out of 4TB.

I have a Sonnet Fusion D800 with R380 controller. I have had 1 drive fail twice (Status = Degraded)
I do have to go in to Atto config manager and select rebuild. This system has been running 24/7 about 60% of the time for the past year. I have never lost DATA. It’s set up for Raid 5. I do not have email notification nor audible alarms set. I do have it announce to finder when there is an issue. If I don’t allow enough spin up time, before I boot the macpro it issues a warning. I click OK and continue. I did operate for about 5 weeks with 1 drive not operating capturing/editing uncompressed HD 1080i and 1080 23.98Psf.
I was terrified the entire time but could not stop to rebuild. Never had an issue other than render errors. Never had dropped frames on output or capture. I’m hoping there may be a way to integrate this older array with the newer DX800 to facilitate adding more local storage.
I would highly recommend this unit. There is NOT an update to run this card in PCIe V2 slots yet for a windows box, not sure re Slot2 on the new macprosDoug Beal

I have return lines to all suites from the machine room patch bays, connected to the analog “B” monitor input. I patch the character out of whatever machine I’m laying out to, to the return line and monitor that. especially for insert edits. The only time this doesn’t work is going to 23.98 HDCam which of course won’t deliver a composite signal at that frequency rate. Have to use the “b” HDSDI input on the mon for that

according to euphonix the MC is in HUI emulation in FCP not EuCon. I’m not sure that means macros but more like assignable buttons to keyboard commands

yes to dbeta, and HDCam. If I go to BSP I usually master to dbeta comp reel and dub cause they usually come back for more, or recycle some portion. I used to insert into a 1400 at the previous place I worked over 422 with a Kona2, but we only have the 1200 here at present.
if I’m doing a repair due to a render error I’ve had no problem with a video only insert if I’m in the same format as I’m mastering to. I have had odd field dominance issues if I’m inserting into a down or upconvert master. It seems the preview switcher aspect of the Kona looks at input instead of ref, or at least that’s my take on it. sometimes I need to insert from cut to another cut, but I’ve never had black frames inserted unless I’ve left the trailer checkbox checked, or I’ve not selected the appropriate output in the kona control panel in which case it’s all black. -
The first one we did we had to go back to the edit bay ’cause the blu ray looked better than what we were cutting. We had been monitoring SD in the edit bay to make sure broadcast would be OK. My kingdom for a Cine-tal

searching my somewhat damaged memory I had that problem once and repaired permissions and rescued my prefs. don’t know which one worked, buut it began behaving again
