Deck not performing insert edits…
Whilst trying to insert edit, Final Cut displayed the following message:
“The deck may be unable to perform this edit operation since the edit duration is only one frame.”
Except the edit duration, from in point to out point was nine seconds and ten frames. Any ideas?
It didn’t perform any kind of insert upon clicking on okay, by the way.
Oh, and anyone who pays close attention to this forum may of noticed I’ve been asking for a lot of help recently. Why is it that when you’re suddenly up against it problems you’ve never come across before suddenly pop up!? Many thanks to all that have helped me, you’re all stars! I hope that one day I’ll notice something I can help with, and feel like I’ve put something back.

I’ve seen this problem before. The solution which worked for me, is to create a new sequence matching the settings of your other sequence, copy the elements you need to insert and paste them into the new sequence. Use the new sequence to do the insert edit. FCP can be wonky at times. I find a similar problem occurs when you change a sequence from a 2 track stereo to a 4 track stereo. FCP just doesn’t want to update the info correctly, so a new sequence seems to do the trick.

I had this happen once before myself. I lost a lot of hair that day (pulling it out hehe )

That seems to of fixed it. I’m left with another problem (which I had before, but hoped may be related), and that is one of Final Cut crashing an awful lot. Started a couple of days ago. Also very annoying, but not so bad as long as I save regularly. If it doesn’t sort itself out expect another post on the forum tomorrow (which’ll make it four days running, I think. Do I get a prize for that? It’s gotta be a record!).
