They are on the same bus and without the potential for adding a separate card to your imac, your stuck with that. if usb2 will work for the data rate you are using then that’s your solution until you move up to a tower based system

to get into a DA88 you’ll need either tdif which is a digital format or for +4 balanced audio a properly wired 25pin dsub. on board option is -10 unbalanced rca jacks which really isn’t an option at all. You may be better off getting single tracks out to a data disk and having an audio house taking care of it. There are converters that will convert from AES to tdif, and or analog but that might be too much of an investment for 1 job to a legacy format.

I’m using the same atto card controlling a sonnet fusion800. I have it set for 4 lane in slot4 and no problems with 422 uncompresssed 10 bit HDCam at whatever frame rate. I’m running a Kona 3 in slot3 (AJA recommended) also 4 lane. Nvidea 4500 in slot1 at 16 lane. I think you’ll want the full amount to gfx

if you master 23.98Psf to HDCam it’s a dub from that master to get to 29.97. simply a setting on the HDCam deck for playout (23.98 PD) PD stands for pulldown. It’ll playback 1080i at this point and pass 29.97tc. If your deliverable requires DF TC you’ll have to prestripe an HDCam tape and do a machine to machine edit, if NDF is acceptable it’s a strait dub. make sure A frame24 and A frame30 is set right in the menu so the TC will be the same every second on the second (NDF)

I sometimes need to deliver several versions from a master. I prefer to master 1080Psf 23.98 to HDCam and do the conversions from the deck. 1080Psf 23.98 will let you go anywhere

if you have all the updates you should be running FCP 6.0.2
it sounds to me like you don’t have the correct easy setup running if it won’t play the sequence but lands on the correct frame when you hit stop. also check viewer>external video> all frames and mirror on desktop checked in a/v devices

You could capture via HD-SDI as an 8 bit uncompressed quicktime provided you had a capable capture card and an disk array to capture to. This format works cross platform provided the destination station has appropriate software. i do this regularily for windows based after effects users. They have MacDrive installed to read a drive from my station
