    Hi All

I need to export splits track to a DA88 deck as a client request for an old project.
I have all sync on a FCP sequence. Is there any chance to export directly from the FCP to the DA88 as a normally do w/a video deck.

we don’t have any protools system handly, so any suggestions are very welcome.

Our system is FCP 6.0.2 on a Intel Quad, with a Blackmagic Decklink card w/16 audio channels output. Also the sequence we have is in 1080i 50 (pal)

    Thanks in advance

    JC

to get into a DA88 you’ll need either tdif which is a digital format or for +4 balanced audio a properly wired 25pin dsub. on board option is -10 unbalanced rca jacks which really isn’t an option at all. You may be better off getting single tracks out to a data disk and having an audio house taking care of it. There are converters that will convert from AES to tdif, and or analog but that might be too much of an investment for 1 job to a legacy format.

I would argue to deliver files, not DA-88. It is a hopeless format and ever sound post facility these days uses files. I always send aif files, all with a common file start.

A split means music premix, FX pre mix and dial/ Vo pre mix. I don’t know how you managed to make those splits in FCP as it has no mix bus features. If the distributor insists, take the stems out as files and get an audio facility to dub them to DA-88 and please make sure the files are also delivered with the DA-88. Dubbing from FCP to a DA-88 is hopeless as you need LTC from FCP.

If I never see one of those silly Hi-8 tapes again I will be well pleased.
