AJA replaced my Kona Lhe Wednesday for a very minor problem, that as it turned was the breakout cables fault, but could have just as easily been my problem. AJA has been STERLING as far as their support. I can easily say it is probably the best in the business! My 2 cents….

Hey Richard remember me?
I have an early 2009 Octocore which is running okay on 8. I would double it if I could afford to.

Christopher,
While a cannot vouch for the Sony camera, I can tell you that working with the Panasonic form of AVCHD has been wonderful. The transcoding appears to happen better than two times real time, and the response of the clip in the Log and transfer window has gotten much better with every update. I love my HMC-150, and I am thinking of trading my HPX-170 (Same camera just with P2 cards) for another HMC-150, So I can work easily all in the same codec. I had 1 issue with corrupted data back in early July, and the camera rebuilt the file on the SD card…. no problem. I am kinda envious because I would like to have the Sony for the HD-SDI outs, but a $495 HDMI to SDi brick will take care of that problem for me.
So I would say go for it.

Larry,
There are two ways to do this:
1. Apply your effect or filter or reposition the first clip on that track. Copy that clip (Command C or right click copy), then highlight the rest of the clips, right click and choose paste attributes, a contextual menu will pop up and you choose what attribute you would like to copy to those clips.
2. Highlight all clips in the track and then option c, which will bring up a dialog to name a nest of clips.
your clips will be replace by one big nest, which you can apply moves and filters to. If you need access to the individual clips, double click on the nest and it will open up in a new sequence. There are some things that nest don’t do very well, you will need to experiment.
Hope this helps…

Would formatting a jump drive NTFS make it so it could hold large files and be seen on Macs and PCs?

I bought the Adobe production bundle so i could get PS and AE and Sound Booth which I like better than Soundtrack Pro, all for a great price…. of course Premiere is setting on my hard drive also. Is anybody else tempted to do a project in another App now and then, just to be ready to bailout?

John,
I don’t know the answer to that question, but I believe the answer would be no. I think the e-sata and firewire protocols are different enough to prohibit this. Plus even if it did work you would be dragging the speed of the E-sata bus down to Firewire 400 speeds. Since you have the LaCie on the E-Sata bus, I’m assuming through a LaCie Express 34 card why not use the Firewire 800 port that is on the Laptop. It’s easy to get a cable or converter to go from the Firewire 800 port to either a 6 pin or 4 pin 400 port.

Sonnet Fusion F2. It’s very small and works well. Interfaces through an Esata Express 34 card. The only drawback: it needs power from either your Firewire 800 port or a wall wart. I have one very handy.
