Did you double click the original, or the copy? A lot of times I think I am modifying one clip and actually be working on another. Could you be doing this?

On the menu bar at the top of the Screen, click on Final Cut Pro, click on the 3rd selection from the top “System Setting” . The fifth tab from the left is the external editors tab, the top selection is for stills, click on set, and then navigate to the Photoshop APPLICATION, which is in the Photoshop folder, in the Applications folder of your system drive. (typically)). You should be set to go after that.

Though, I did not go to Vegas this year, I do know there were no announcements about FCS, and to be honest with you, none were expected. Apple did release (as predicted) the next generation of MacBook Pro’s on Tuesday, but that was not an NAB event. (However the exact release date was probably timed for NAB) Apple does not “Do” NAB now, they do not have exhibit there and indeed it seems they don’t believe in doing any trade shows, preferring instead to stage their own events to make product announcements. It would stand to reason that sometime in the not so distance future there will be a new release of FCS, with all the programs totally re-written to take advantage of 64 bit structure of Snow Leopard. But don’t hold your breath, predicting Apple’s product announcements is like gambling in Vegas, a risky proposition at best!

Mark,
The number one issue for you is the need for external broadcast quality monitor in which to grade your footage with. Another computer monitor connected to the external monitor out of your IMac would be a waste of money. The Matrox MXO however would take the dvi (actually mini dvi out) of your I’mac and process is such a way that you can color correct on a DVI computer monitor or a broadcast quality monitors such as the ones made by Flanders Scientific, Sony and Panasonic. The absolute best case would be to purchase a MacPro and a Kona Card from AJA, and take it’s HD/SDI output and connect to one of the previously mentioned monitors. Bottom line, another “computer” monitor running off your external monitor out of your computer would provide an incorrect view of what your footage looks like.
Hope this makes sense.

The only way I can see to record to disk, is to buy a HDMI to SDI brick from AJA or BMD and then hook up a AJA Ki Pro to it, but that would be expensive, Panasonic make a smaller, and less expensive AVCHD camera, the HMC- 40, which can do time lapse.

Vincent,
Sign up for Panasonic PASS at: https://eww.pass.panasonic.co.jp/p2ui/TopLogin.do?lang=en
and then download either the Windows P2 viewer or the P2CMS (P2 Content Management Software) free from Panasonic.

Justin,
Truthfully a batch capture from P2 files should be fairly painless and semi-automatic.

Steven,
I don’t have this issue with my Panasonic AVCHD camera. My first question would be, do you see the original time code in the browser of the Log and Transfer window? For instance in the media start column. Above the browser on the far right, you will see a button, click on this button and then click on revert to original metadata. I’m not sure this will work but it is worth a try.
