December 10, 2011 at 11:19 pm in reply to: Vegas Pro 11 crashing when applying Event FX.

Jeff, I had same thing – this is what I have done that has worked for me.
I had install Vegas 11 64bit build 371 the first. everything I used worked ok. I updated to build 425 64Bit that is when I started having the FX problems. I updated everything on the computer – no better. And rendering a long project was next to impossible with out a crash.

I uninstalled the 425 build and went back to the 371 build and it has been MUCH more stable. and the FX have worked. BUT, I don’t know what I have forfeited by going back, concerning GPU ?
But I can now get my project done – while I now wait for the next update and fixes from sony.
You can give it a try

    Clarification:
My problem is Vegas will not render without shutting down.
My questions were based on your post about page filing.
    1) will increase page filing help rendering?
    2) can you have page filing on multiple drives?
    3) If yes, do you recommend page filing on the drive that contains the OS?
this is what i meant to be asking
    thank U

Sir Stephen, I also am having shut downs ever time I try to render in V11. If I understand correctly, adding page filing may help the rendering process? and that I can have page filing on more than 1 internal HD and that is an advantage? Last do you recommend page filing on my OS drive?

    love them had no problems
do a lot of chromakey, so shoot in 1920×1080 30P – great quality – not easy on computer processor though – 720p edits easier but does not chroma near as well. Good little view finder screen also. and they work with RAw hoodman adpters and SD cards so economical rather than the Sony SxS card that are megabucks – never lost any footage with adapters useing them for 2 years

It is no easy task but possible, and in my opinion not so efficient but will work. Must be Macbook with intel processor

first you need to set up a partition on the hard drive using boot camp (comes with your MAC OS disk) and load xp or vista or win 7. (using windows within the MAC OS is NOT efficient – not for video editing – using “parallels” ect….)

If you use xp 32 bit you cannot take advantage of all the ram in MAC book Pro

I have used both Vista Ultimate 64 and Win 7 64 in a macbook pro. (read concerning your mac and MAC OS what version windows the boot camp will support) because the bootcamp has your windows drivers with it

Then use it as a dual boot system – boot in win load your vegas

  • Ann,I tried the clean uninstall program. reinstall and did updates. No go? I was wonder is there a log file or something I can send to someone that will identify what is happening? I dont get an error code to search it just shuts down. It ran fine for about a month, then all the sudden shuts down on anything. Thank you for your recommendation

No, they are not green. 2 of them are raptor drives. it seems as though there is something I must trigger somewhere? I have taken a drive out of one bay and move it to another bay then it will work fast for a while. then drop down again, I can pull it out of that bay then put in another and it will speed up again?
When they drop they drop to the speed of usb2.

what do you think of G Tech external raid system with esata card?

November 27, 2011 at 3:59 pm in reply to: Upgrade question Vegas 10 to Vegas 11

I would recommend saving your current V10 project under a second name, then open that one in V11 and save it as an V11 and see if all is well, there are still plenty of glitches in V11, you WILL be glad you can go back to V10 until they get V11 ironed out.

November 23, 2011 at 10:53 pm in reply to: Does dvd arch 5.2 recompress If i render out of Vegas mpg

Sir Stephen you said “almost never, let DVDA re-compress already compressed media – it will result in a hit on the quality”
Is there a way from stopping re-compression or is using a DVD Arch template automatically stop re-compression?
