  • Vegas Pro 11 crashing when applying Event FX.

Posted by Jeff Green on December 10, 2011 at 9:01 pm

Hi…I am using Vegas Pro 11 and trying to apply Event FX like color correction, levels, white balance. Sometimes I can make an adjustment and all is well then other times the white screen and message “Sony Vegas has stopped working. Searching for solution”. Yeah right! Anyway, it now appears that my stabilizer is also grayed out and useless. So this is what I have tried.

    1. Uninstall \ re-install
    2. Upgraded driver to the beta driver 290
    3. Turned off GPU acceleration
    4. Found my Dynamic Ram set to 200mb and raised that to 1024

None of these have helped truly. So I am now presenting it to you guys in hopes of a solution. Thanks for any help!!!

Hey Steve…yes. I am using the 64 bit and I have seen others talk about reverting to using the 32bit. Won’t that slow my renders and general use of the software? I mean built this system for 64bit to get more RAM and speed but maybe this version of Sony is not meant to be.

Any idea about my camera stabilizer being grayed out? Thanks for the time!

At this point, i would recommend you go with the 32 bit
version for now also….I presume you will have less issues.
It wont necessarily slow your renders.

Jeff, I had same thing – this is what I have done that has worked for me.
I had install Vegas 11 64bit build 371 the first. everything I used worked ok. I updated to build 425 64Bit that is when I started having the FX problems. I updated everything on the computer – no better. And rendering a long project was next to impossible with out a crash.

I uninstalled the 425 build and went back to the 371 build and it has been MUCH more stable. and the FX have worked. BUT, I don’t know what I have forfeited by going back, concerning GPU ?
But I can now get my project done – while I now wait for the next update and fixes from sony.
You can give it a try

    PC
    I7 2.8 Ghz 8GB Ram
    Win 7 Pro 64bit OS
    PNY Quadro 4000

    3-4 TB HD
    Vegas 10 64bit & Vegas 11 64Bit & Adobe Production Premium CS5.5.2 & Avid Media Composer 5.5

    Camera
    Sony EX1 shoot in 1920×1080 30P

Don…thank you. You are actually the second person to suggest that and in the confusion of trying this and that, I forgot to try this – lol. So I will now give this a try. I will post results tomorrow or Monday on how it went.
