Silhouette Roto is the best out there but it’s no Animatte. I used to use Animatte for transitions, removing, fixing, creating things. Now that I have FCP I use Silhouette only when I have to. I highly recommend, but don’t get your hopes too high. Animatte and a better color corrector are the only things that Avid has over FCP.

September 25, 2006 at 10:01 pm in reply to: Transferring batchlist from FCP to AvidSebsky Tools is the best & easiest way & it’s free. I use it all the time. You can a batch list from Final Cut to Avid or the other way around. With this tool our producers log all footage in Media Log & export it into FCP.

I have 3 of the 5102’s. The jog shuttle is nice but I only use it for capturing from the DVC Pro & Beta. I don’t like it for my DV deck. I have the Sony DSR 45 & the deck is too sensitive for the wheel. If you turn either way you end up minutes from where you want to be. Never felt comfortable using the jog shuttle for editing, I found it to be sluggish.
The best thing about the keyboard is the multimedia keys at the top. It gives you an extra 14 buttons to map functions. The buttons can be setup to do different things in different apps. That’s worth the $80 to go from the Advantage Series up to the Pro Series.

I knew it had to be simple. Sorry for the basic question.
Thanks!

Before you do a fresh install try to create a new user. That worked for me.

Doesn’t the Ocean Matrix 4×4 do what you want it to? Are you looking for something more simple than that? The 4×4 has room for growth.
Kramer has something like the ocean matrix https://www.kramerelectronics.com/indexes/item.asp?pic=294

Ahhh…Video Cube. Like my first car I have fond memories of that system…and nightmares. I remember pulling my first all-nighter. The show had to go out the next day. Around 7am the next day the media drive locked up. Everything was lost & 2 hours away from mastering. Show never was completed…ahh, the Video Cube.
Maybe you could start a video museum. Get a Toaster, TAO Editizer & a few others. When we all get frustrated we could come over and remember what it was like before FCP. Fargo sounds like a cool place for something like that.

August 8, 2006 at 4:47 pm in reply to: Follow-Up to Dell 2407 vs. Apple Cinema 23″I’ve seen the ghosting. I assumed it was something up my display. Didn’t know it was across the board…kind of makes me feel better…I think?
The ghosting does go away after a while. Definitely not burn-in like what is experienced with the old plasma monitors.

Ikegami is still making CRT monitors. The HTM-1505 14″ cost me around $6,000 with SDI. It can take a SD or HD signal.
