The cheesy work around is the only solution. I export a QuickTime same as source or if you do not have color correction, export a QT reference & do the mpeg conversion in Sorenson. Wish they would of fixed that before they canned it. I am thankful though that they gave us a version beyond 4.7. The bugs in 5 are a fraction of 4.7.

The big problem I had was getting use to use the record & source monitors to get footage to & from the timeline. In Edit, I used to drag & drop. When I went to Avid I felt like my right hand was tied behind my back. Few days later I got the hang of it. All is well now 🙂

Since I’ve been using Avid I’ve found far less errors in my timelines. Because it’s so easy in Edit to move things in the timeline, I found myself moving clips accidentally. In Avid you have to click a button to move things around which provides some safety.

Have some compassion on the Avid editor! I’m still getting over what happened, or shall I say what didn’t happen at NAB. I’m think about making this forum my new home page.

Thanks for the insight Troy. I really appreciate your vast knowledge & understanding. The COW wouldn’t be the same without you!

    >>>>Seems like just dropping the price of Nitris would have saved em alot of time and effort.

    Amen.
Instead of a trend setter, Avid is just holding on for the ride. There may be a few high-end houses that would pick up a Symphony Nitris only for the name & user base. Although FCP’s user base is growing! Alot of the classifieds now ask for FCP knowledge, guess it’s time to learn it.

Sorry. I didn’t see this thread yesterday. My post really falls under the Disappointed & Concerned topic.

    >>>>>>>> You know…I was really hoping that Avid would say that since FCP continues to steal customers & that they realize a fully configured Adrenaline is $20K over priced & to remain the top dog they are taking the Symphony features and adding them to Adrenaline (to justify the 40K price tag). But they would never do that because DS would have to be lowered to 90K.
    Oh well.
