July 27, 2005 at 10:12 pm in reply to: What is fair replacement for broken camera?Agree. Your employer is aware of everything said in the 5 responses you received on your post. I could see someone like your neighbor demanding full price, someone who doesn’t understand the biz & someone who sees $5200 as their life savings. Not from a professional who does this for a living. He’s cheating you.
FWIW, I borrowed my former company

>>>I’m in Minnesota so I don’t have the promise of NY, LA or London. Is this a career that could be managed from anywhere remotely through e-mails, FedEx and a plane flight now and then?
Yes. I currently work with 2 motion gfx artists & they’re both long distance. Make sure you have hi-speed internet and a ftp site. You can upload to the site & your client can get the project from there.

If you have alot of tracks & you don’t need to select all of them you can shift click the track button and drag down to highlight all that tracks that you need.

Our Adrenaline editor just came across this issue. Not sure if he figured it out either. I’m happy that I’m still on a Meridian system.
What’s you hardware config? Maybe were both experiencing it because of hardware? I’ve found Adrenaline users that never have any problems & others that always have problems. We’re apart of the second group.

Thanks Dave. 7Mb didn’t help but I’ll try CBR. I have a lot of room of still available on the disc.
Miss all of you guys from the edit forum. Maybe someone will once again invent the perfect system & we’ll all get back together. Got to go, my eyes are getting sore from these new red glasses I just bought 🙂

June 3, 2005 at 6:09 pm in reply to: Thinking of Avid Xpress Pro and ditching Final Cut Pro.In my eyes for my needs, right now they’re pretty much the same. I still like Avid for all the freelancers I know. I like the support & stability. For FCP, I like how it can handle multiple layers. Again, lets just call them the same. If this is true, look how long Avid has been doing this & look how long Apple has been doing this? If Apple stays in it, five years later we’ll have something twice as good as Avid.
Look at NAB (the big video tradeshow). This (for alot of Avid editors) was the final ditch effort for Avid to keep them. What did they demo? Not much. Did the slash prices? No. In the last 6 months I have been amazed who now has FCP. Avid still may be the standard but not for long. Have you seen the job posts lately ? https://www.creativecow.net/forum/view_posts.php?forumid=70 . Most of the editor positions posted are for FCP, not Avid. Have you been on the Avid forum lately? I seen you post there & you got two responces telling you to stay with what you got. If you would of posted that before NAB this past April, 6 people would of pounced on you telling you that Avid is it & you need to switch. Times are changing.
BTW, I have a used $90K Symphony & a $40K Adrenaline that I’m willing to get rid of. The Symphony will never do HD & the Adrenaline will do HD for a $10K upgrade.
HTH,
