“who would pay 10K for a HVX cameraman”

all the pro camera persons i know have day rates !! their day rate doesn’t depend on the SIZE of the camera they use .. if you want to hire Mr/Ms X their day rate may be 2500- 25000 day ( without a camera) ..

they hire TALENT/experience/imagination not a camera .. the camera itself has no talent , no experience .. you could just turn it on and it might do fair to ok BUT is fair /ok good enough for your project ?

December 6, 2005 at 8:11 pm in reply to: Nvidia card for HD — Magic Bullet

i believe that the software you are using has to have “code” that will send the data to the graphic’s card

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the question is does Vegas have that code to use graphiic’s card or is it magic bullet has the code ( indepentent of NLE) and takes care of sending it etc ????

i know over in combustion and other programs that do use the graphic cards CPU it really helps with previewing FX’s so you do not have to pre render …

you can also download the mainconcept DVCpro50 codec to try out

    https://www.mainconcept.com/codecs.shtml#dvcpro

i’m not so sure that will solve the deck capture .. i haven’t tried any of the DVCpro decks in years but back then their deck 1394 cards were not OHCI spec’s. also back then DVCpro25 was not OHCI ( header wrapper was different).. panasonic DV product did meet OHCI spec’s …

November 30, 2005 at 8:46 pm in reply to: Noise Reduction

1st try to get a print of the NOISE only .. set FIT size to 1000 ..get a very very very tiny sample ( .35) nothing longer then 1/2 second … create a loop and listen to it – under GENERAL check the box Keep out residual to hear the NOISE only – from there move the sliders slightly and try to keep voice out of it – listen to it with keep out residual and then uncheck it to hear voice ( go back & forth between them after moving sliders also make a larger loop area that includes voice and noise) .. also set windowing FFT to 4000 (higher at times – again listen to difference of 128 vs. 4000 ) ..windowing overlap to 90 … release speed 90 … reduce noise approx 6-20 ( maybe 25) (it is better to use NR multiple times then to try to take out all the noise with just one instance of NR with reduce noise at 40 ) … noise bias ( start ) approx -10 to +5 =you have to listen …

if the buzz gets louder then softer -louder etc it will take TIME .. if buzz is same volume thru-out NR should get very close if you just capture the noise print of the buzz ..

you could buy multi bay 1394b/a external case

    https://www.cooldrives.com/copr0fi80ald.html

    https://www.cooldrives.com/dual-drive-firewire-enclosure-two-drive-enclosure-raid-firewire-aluminum-case-mini-1394b.html

    4 drive bay
    https://www.cooldrives.com/qudrmifi80dr.html

    you can find 250gig drives for 69-99.. 300gig 89-119 ..
    400gig 179-229 …

either 2 bay or 4 bay can be used as RAID 0 or individual drives ..
note that raid 0 over 1394b is NOT any faster then (non raid) individual drives ( 7200rpm ATA/SATA) made in 2005) infact i have found RAID 0 to be slightly slower ( 10-15%) then indiviual drives over 1394B .. with raid 0 you do get a slight increase over 1394a
