just anamorphic is SD….if you’re using it, make sure your capture and sequence settings are both set at anamorphic.

personally, I have all of the tools I might need with FCP Studio, installed on my main editing Mac. Photoshop, After Effects, Flash, and some often used utilities/plug-ins like Flip4Mac, Perian, CaptureIt. Most importantly for me, I keep this machine away from the internet…hardly ever connect unless I’m installing updates.

Haven’t ever seen one, but I’m wondering why you’d want this info? If you’re just checking your audio levels to make sure they’re okay, you can hit the letter ‘l’ on the keyboard a few times while playing your sequence. This will play the sequence faster, while still allowing you to monitor the audio levels.

make sure your audio settings of the sequence matches the audio settings of the source, this should make the audio come into the timeline, playable without rendering. Alternately, you could export the audio from the source in Quicktime, then replace the audio on your clip. Good luck!

There’s a cool widget for macs that helps with all kinds of symbols….check it out at apple.com it’s called ‘charaterpal’.

are you moving the clips on the timeline? moving them can cause this ‘unrendering’ problem. Also, might want to check that your sequence settings and your footage settings match? Trashing preferences and restarting might help too. Take heart that when you export, the exported file should be fine. Hope this helps. Good luck

You can try a slight gaussian blur, but if the text is too small it’s gonna flicker, especially fonts with very thin lines…

720 x 480 is standard aspect ratio for DV. 16 x 9 is anamorphic. If your source footage is 16×9 use anamorphic, if your source footage is standard, use 720 x 480. Good luck!

you can reimport media from your scratch folders, but unfortunately not within previously assigned bins. You can adjust your autosave in the preferences, user settings.
Maybe you should use a middle intial. FCP could be having issues with your intials being “PC”?
