i received videos imported via imovie,
    format is:
    video DV PAL 720×576
sound DV 1 stereo, 32khz, 32bit floating point,

when i import them to final cut pro, i can’t edit in real time,
    seems that sound cause problems,

is this codec not handled by final cut pro?????
    (videos imported via imovie)
or what i am doing wrong?
    thanks

make sure your audio settings of the sequence matches the audio settings of the source, this should make the audio come into the timeline, playable without rendering. Alternately, you could export the audio from the source in Quicktime, then replace the audio on your clip. Good luck!

FCP (and all professional edit apps) wants sound files to be 48kHz 16 or 24bit. If it’s not you have to render. But, it’s a quick render. The sound’s sample rate was probably set in the camera. In the future have the camera set to 48k to eliminate the need to render sound. Why didn’t you use FCP to capture instead of iMovie? Not that it would have made a difference with the sound. Did you use the DV PAL easy setup?
