[Jan Crittenden Livingston] “Actually, you need to capture at 59.97, and remove the flagged frames later, I believe. Apple may have integrated the auto-matice removal in FCP since the last time I did this, but the stream coming in over firewire is 59.97. If they did then on the sequence setup, it will show a check for removal of pulldown.
Open your capture window in FCP and then push the capture now button and that is all there is to it. To stop, push stop.
FCP does not capture Time Code in this mode, but it will indeed capture footage.
What are the cam settings to do this to result in 720p/24?
What are the settings for FCP’s sequence?
Finally, after capture, is there anything else to do?

So that I understand this, set the cam to 720/24P mode without any p2 cards.
Attach the firewire cable to cam and your CPU.
Set your FCP sequence to 720/24P DVCProHD, and then just hit record?
Is that correct?

We would like to show an occasional 10-15 minute clip to a client.
We are now in a position where we have to transcode to HDV and use a different cam.
With p2 technology and no moving parts, there is less wear and tear than a deck.
But Jan said, I believe in another forum, that the component out overheats the cam, and causes issues even if we could

You cannot due 720PN with firestore; don’t know about variable frame rates.

Because despite it what appears, you can only use this to download footage from the cam or p2 card, not capture directly except for DV25, as I understand it.
