Either the articles your read are wrong or you may have misinterpreted them. The Kona and BM cards are not hardware accelerator cards, they are capture cards. They cannot “help process more layers and or effects in Real TIME.”

However, they can be used to convert video to various formats on the fly while capturing that may, in some instances, give you better realtime performance, and that can enable you to edit more streams or layers. For example, you could capture uncompressed SD DVCPro50 or uncompresssed HD to DVCPro100, thereby substancially diminishing the system overhead necessary for those uncompressed formats and thereby substancially increasing layers and realtime capabilities.

Next time check the little box that says “show all”… Thats where Apple has chosen to hide the strangely named DV-50 easy setup.

Did you happen to notice that Apple named the PAL setup DVCPro50, while while the NTSC version is oddly named DV-50??? Odd that they wouldn’t just go ahead and change that in an update sometime, cuz you know they must know about it by now.

For the record, as with all filters, you can also double click on the Timecode Reader Filter in the Browser, thereby loading it into the viewer, make your adjustments to size and position, then drop it onto your nested sequence. But, Steven’s solution is better because you can see the changes that you apply as you go.

Apple says “round-tripping” from LiveType and other apps is fixed in version 5.1.1. If you haven’t crossgraded that could be a source of your issues.

Have you at least checked out what comes with Sound Track Pro? It has a pretty good rudimentary SFX library that covers a fair amount of ground. Its covered my butt for many things.

The STP tutorial has clear and concise instructions on how to use noice reduction. I did it a year ago and have not found anything better that explains its functionality. I have found STP’s noise reduction to be very effective.
