  • Timecode Reader In Nested Sequence

Posted by Martin Reuben on June 24, 2006 at 1:45 pm

I’m trying to get some control over the size of the timecode window that being created from a FCP Nested Sequence.

    This is what I’m doing:

Selected all the clips in the original sequence.
Nested all the items in a new sequence.
Dropped the Timecode Reader Filter on sequence
The timecode window is there and workng properly, but the size is too large. When I double click on the video clip it immediately takes me to the original sequence. At no time does the filter window for the nested sequence that has the time code reader show the controls for the filter so I can change the size.

    Thanks for any advice!

If you control click on the nested sequence within the timeline, you will get the contextual menu (a menu that is based on the cursor position).

One of the choices in that menu is “open in viewer”. Now you can set filters.

    Martin,

For the record, as with all filters, you can also double click on the Timecode Reader Filter in the Browser, thereby loading it into the viewer, make your adjustments to size and position, then drop it onto your nested sequence. But, Steven’s solution is better because you can see the changes that you apply as you go.

    Or, just option-double-click
