Are you aware that you can call Adobe for tech support? Believe it or not, their engineers have seen this issue and can tell you how to fix it. I know because I once had the same issue.

You are using an ancient technique that doesn’t require you to learn proper keyframing techniques in the software. As a cinematographer, you’d like to focus on learning new things your craft first, so you take shortcuts instead of learning lots of functions you might not ever use again. It’s understandable, everyone has to establish priorities.
Test being said, by avoiding keyframing, and using the razorblade and tradition technique, you’re creating a more complicated solution for yourself. My best advice to you is to learn to use keyframes to achieve your creative goal on this one clip, and take notes. You’ll be a much better editor and you’ll be much more effective and efficient If you do.

The rule of thumb on the Cow has always been to pick the best forum and post there rather than posting the same message in several forums. However, if you don’t get answers or the info is incomplete for your purposes, then posting elsewhere is cool.

Instead of exporting video and eight track together, just export each audio track as its own as a separate file. Export a temp mix tied to the video so you have a guide track, if necessary, then reassemble them as required at the mix, and mute the guide tracks once you are sure everything is synced properly.

I’ve been running Catalina seamlessly on a new MacBook Pro for about six months. I’d suspect Windows and/or Bootcamp are your issues.
