Thanks for the response. Does this answer apply to the AVX2/Adrenaline effects architecture? What exactly is AVX2 vs AVX1?
Thanks,
David

My other footage is already at 0 IRE. At the network that I work at, we master everything to 0 IRE — IMX Format.

Okay, I think I figured out where layer maps are. I set layer map 1 to my 4 Solids layer then under Options>Materials palette, there are 4 dark grey boxes , I checked each one and set the drop down to Layer Map 1 but still nothing — it is just a solid 3D grey shape. The 4 solids don’t appear anywhere . . .

Thanks for the great post Jerry, however I am a little lost now. I imported the Illustrator path into AE after creating the 4 solid comp.
“Apply the wide animated stripe comp as a “layer map” to the sides of the object.”
Is that something you do in Invig? (I am rather new to Invig) Or is that something like a track matte??
Thanks a lot,

Yeah I remember seeing that exact effect under text presets on 6.5 as well. I found it while looking at the help section that shows an animated example of each text effect. Unfortunately I am at home right now and only have 6.0 here or I would look it up for you.

Where did you see that $100 version of Cinema4D? I checked the Maxon website and couldn’t find that anywhere (and they indicate they are on ver9– you mentioned version 6)?
Please explain if you could — I would love to get into a 3D program.

Hi Paul,
You lost me on memory formats/v210 etc. Can you explain a little more? It does sound like you are saying I would need some external hardware to make it work.
Thanks,

June 15, 2005 at 9:15 pm in reply to: Setting keyframes for motion through dissolvesI think what you are looking for is on the Effect Controls window, the flyout menu (or whatever you call the menu that comes off the right arrow at the top of that window) then uncheck “Pin to Clip” — this will allow you to set keyframes beyond the current clip in and out points.

What I usually do is a color correction pass with scopes (waveform and vectorscope) to make sure everything is legal as I color correct (ie as I tweak to make it look like the effect I want) — then to be safe right before output I use a variant of the Broadcast Safe filter (I also use Avid and Liquid Blue) just to make sure nothing strayed out of legal while I wasn’t looking.
It is very important to use a Broadcast monitor and Hardware scopes (in my opinion) to accurately do CC. That said — I can now confess that I have done DV stuff a lot with just the software scopes in Premiere and a cheapo TV and it worked fine.
