I use Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC). I think SuperDuper is really good too.
SuperDuper seems to add updates more often then Carbon Copy Cloner,
if that is of any value, I don’t know.

I just used CCC to make a bootable clone of my Tiger hard disk.
I took the firewire drive that the clone was on down to ProMAX
for them to put onto the Intel dual core…etc. they were configuring
    for me.
I wanted two partitions; one with my old drive (with FCS original installed on it), and another partition with a new OSX Tiger install with FCS2 on it. I am in the middle of a project and wanted to be able to use both versions of FCS and migrate over carefully.

CCC worked perfectly and while I have had a few teething ‘opportunities’,
I am very happy with how the change-over has gone.
I also am quite sure I could have had the same good results with SuperDuper.

    fwiw,

A very good tip on the three-way corrector in FCP too Walter,
that is a great way to use that filter, but color just looks
like a whole different world. Can’t wait.

This is a very encouraging thread David/Walter et al.
I have been hesitant to jump into Color, not because I don’t
have the hardware but because I wasn’t sure I could work my
    way through it…
    I have changed my mind.

    Thanks,

There is also a very decent stabilizer in
    the new Motion in FCS2.

But I guess that’s not much help either,
    but fwiw.

    Jerry,

I am about the worlds worst person to have messing
around in Motion and then reporting results…I don’t know
    it well at all.

Here is what I did find out sofar. I tried a very jittery
    handheld shot in Motion’s smoothcam-like behavior’s setting.
    The result was stunningly effective.
Now I don’t exactly know what I did, but I came up with a clip that was MUCH better looking then what I started with.
The thing that is cool is that you can keep the clip running and
mess with the parameters in real time…now that is impressive.

What do I even LOOK for to slow down a clip down in Motion?
    (face red),

    Thank you Jerry.

I am not sure how to do that in Motion,
but I guess that’s why they made manuals.
(putting on reading glasses and opening manual…)

  • No way! Really?
    Whew…
I have about 25 hours to log.
    (talk about Chaos…)

    Thank you,
