  • Anyone installed new QT7.4.1 and/or Prokit?

Posted by Todd Reid on February 7, 2008 at 8:30 pm

I’ve only found 1 thread regarding QT 7.4.1. Elsewhere I’ve read about Logic users and their sometime success with the prokit upgrade, no FCP users yet to chime in.

We need people who are brave to upgrade and report back.
Please, if you are brave enough, or a pioneer that wants to be the first in new territory, please upgrade responsibly, to rule out the upgrade workflow as a problem.

At the very least, repair permissions before, and directly after each install.

I’m not having many problems with my Leopard, 6.0.2, QT 7.4 system, so I’m very leery to jump on this upgrade.

I did read elsewhere that QT 7.4.1 is a security patch, and therefore may not include any improvements.

Release notes are vague (typical). It says improved compatibility with 3rd party software.
I’m guessing 7.4.1 addresses the horrible issues people were having with 7.4. Trying it now, but I’m one of the lucky ones who didn’t have problems with 7.4.

please post your results once you’ve tested a few things.

I’m also “one of the lucky ones”, but I don’t want to press my luck.
    cheers to ya!

The updates seem to work just fine. I’m running under Leopard here…

If you’re concerned about updating, just get in the habit of cloning your system drive in advance of performing any update. You can boot to that drive and be back up and running in minutes if there are any problems, and clone it back to your system drive later.

Yes installed and running on 10.5.1. No problems so far. The only issue with QT 7.4 that I’ve had is that I have to sometimes refresh the Decklink preferences to get it to down convert HD to SD on my CRT Monitor. Apart from that it’s business as usual.

    [Dave LaRonde] “Enhanced Flash capabilites?”

Actually Dave, the new update increases FCS2’s Flash capabilities by a factor of ten.

    Unfortunately 10 x 0 = 0

Ditto here too…. Although I’m only brave enough to upgrade my laptop. Running AE CS3 with no problems… renders fine.

Not sure if/when I’ll upgrade my actual G5 suite.

Again, I have a strong suspicion that these two updates are meant to address the problems people were having with QT 7.4.
