You might try https://www.davsys.com
But IMHO, I don’t know that a web site will help you convey to the timer what you want from your film. -
I understand that It is 1/8″ on one end and XLR on the other end.
But how do you interface it with your XL1s?
Since a stock XL1s does not have XLR inputs, and the stock mic input is stereo,
where do you plug it in?
Also have you switched your audio sensitivity to line in the menu settings? -

April 25, 2005 at 3:39 pm in reply to: what is the best video capture cRD FOR PROTOOLS HD ?Since you have no plans to upgrade to a modern G5 with PCI-X slots,
my first thought would be to score a used PCI video capture card off ebay.
There are many for sale very cheap, that still have OSX drivers available for them. -
The Sennheiser G2 100 series receiver uses an unbalanced line level 1/8″ mini-jack for output.
How do you have that connected to your XL1s? -
“if i had it i would have, use your brain, and if you not going to answer correct dont answer at all”
Now where in your first post do you say you do not have the manual?
Do you know how many people post questions just like yours, who have the manual,
but would rather ask here than open the manual and read it?I found an online PDF version of the manual in 4 seconds by doing a Google search,
but did not tell you that if you are not going to use your brain, don’t bother posting!Try here, https://www.starbatteries.com/caxlmidicaow.html
Ignore the payment stuff, and just select “Canon XL1S MiniDV Digital Camcorder owners manual and users guide .pdf”
halfway down the page under the Get Adobe Reader logo.Have a good Shoot!

Do you have PCI card space left in your old G4?
Are you planning to upgrade to a G5 at some point?
What type of inputs and outputs do you need,
(IE) what will you be digitizing from, Beta SP, DVCam, VHS, HD?
What video quality are you looking for?
If high quality, do you have a Raid for video playback seperate from your audio drives?
What is the intended use of the video card? -
Jim, you fail to mention which new Panny you are talking about, as Panasonic has more than one new offering.
Let’s assume that you are talking about the AG-HVX200.As a business owner, before I purchase new equipment, I’ll make an assessment of needs to see if the purchase is justified.
If I were in your shoes, I would ask myself the following…“My assumptions are that the new cam is every bit as capable as the DVX100A in its standard DV capabilities”
Are you going to be using the new camera in DV mode, Which your current camera already does?“Also assuming that it is native 16:9, and therefore no need for a squeeze mode or anamorphic adaptor”
Is this not a feature you already have with your current camera and accessories?Am I buying this new camera for High Def use?
And if so, will I also need to purchase an HD VTR, an HD monitor, update software?
How will perspective clients view the HD material, as at this point their are no HD DVDs?
Are my clients even asking for HD?I will assume that since your current camera only has 18 hours of use on it,
either it is only a week old, or you don’t really shoot all that much.I would have to ask myself, If I were buying this camera for future HD use,
would it not make sense to wait until the format is better established, with more offerings,
dropping the prices down further, with even better quality cameras and playback systems?Or you might just want one!
So I say sell your camera, and go buy the new one!
